Corey's speech was perfect. He was both funny, and sweet, and the great brother I know I love all wrapped up. You set the tone for the rest of the night Cor, and I think we all know it was a great night!
First off, I’d like to thank Tyler & Amy for giving me the honour, to play such a big part in their very special day.  I’m still pretty shocked that they entrusted in me to MC, and believed that not only would I do a good job and not screw up their wedding, but that I would stay sober long enough today to do it coherently.  It’s pretty ironic that I am standing here today doing all the talking because Amy wanted me to.  Back when we were young kids it didn’t matter if I was singing the ninja turtle song, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, or just telling mom and dad what happened earlier that day, I could never tell the story right or sing the song right.  Amy would always cut me off or chime in and tell me where I screwed up.  Well Amy today you have to sit back and let me talk! No cutting in!

My first memories of Tyler actually have nothing to do with Amy.  I can remember when I was 11 or 12 years old and Tyler was a Little League Umpire.  If anyone knows Tyler, they will know that if he sets out to learn something whether it is electronics, math, or the stats of another Toronto Maple Leafs losing season he will learn it.  So Tyler was actually one of the better umpires we had.   What most people probably don’t know is that Tyler is a brave man.  Tyler would be umping our games, and a questionable call would happen.  Of course right away Dad, who was my coach, would come flying out of the dugout to question Tyler’s logic.  Even though it was completely obvious that Tyler was scared beyond belief, he would stand his ground (at a distance) and stick to his call.  Now how dumb can a guy be... I mean really, you live your life and find one man that scares the crap out of you, and decide “ hey here’s a great idea, why don’t I go date his daughter” not the smartest thing you could have done Tyler but apparently you knew what you were doing.  Deep down inside I think Tyler still gets a rush from being scared of Dad.

Now I don’t know when I am going to be an uncle but I sure do feel sorry for my eventual niece or nephew.  He has absolutely zero chance of being able to catch a ball. Ok maybe with Ryan and I as uncles they have a slight chance but not because of Tyler or Amy.  I remember one game when Amy was playing softball at the moose complex and she was pitching.  The catcher threw the ball back to her and it went right by her glove and hit her right between her nose and her eye.  It honestly looked like she wanted to catch the ball with her eye, because I think she actually had to move her glove to not catch it. And if you are thinking okay so the baby’s mom can’t catch, no big deal, let me tell you about Tyler’s catching ability.

One of the first family events I remember Tyler being at was Thanksgiving probably 5 years ago at least.  A bunch of us decided to play football at the park.  It was a pretty heated game, and it was coming down to the last play.  Basically, it came down to Mike’s team needing this touchdown to beat Dad’s team.  Mike will probably still tell you to this day that he drew up the perfect play... Throw the ball to the big goofy looking guy that hasn’t made a catch all day, he’ll be wide open.  Well smart play because Tyler was wide open, except for one thing Tyler can’t catch. Standing in the end zone all alone a perfect spiral comes at a nice arc towards Tyler.  Tyler can taste victory and the sudden acceptance of Amy’s family.  And then THUMP! Right off Tyler’s hands and the game is over.  YOU LOSE Tyler.

The only time I have ever seen Tyler catch anything was when he was umping baseball when I was 13.  Tyler was the base umpire with a runner on first, so he was standing behind the pitcher’s mound in perfect position.  On the pitch the runner broke to steal second base, and Tyler turned to watch the play at second base.  Only problem was he forgot to watch the ball and this baseball that the catcher just rifled to second hit Tyler square in the groin… and he wasn’t wearing a can!!!  Ouch!

I’ve got to say Amy you have managed to find the cheapest guy that I have ever met. I could go on for hours on the subject of Tyler’s cheapness, but I will just tell a quick story instead.  We went down to Vegas a couple years ago and Tyler just couldn’t wait to gamble.  He kept nagging us “come on I want to play poker, when can we go gamble, I love Mats Sundin, let’s go gamble!”  So finally Tyler actually puts 1 dollar into the slot machine.  He plays for 20 seconds and is up to 5 bucks.  So what does Tyler do? He cashes out.  All the big talk about how he wanted to gamble and he spent 1 dollar and made 4.  He bet 1 dollar the entire trip, that’s it!

Anyways, I wish you both nothing but success and happiness.  I couldn’t have asked for a better guy for my sister. I couldn’t have asked for a better sister.  Amy you have always been there for me whether it was staying up late complaining about how mean mom and dad are, helping me with school projects, or helping me take the last few steps to my bedroom when I came home from the bar and passed out in the hallway a foot from my bedroom door, you are always there for me.    We are very different people, but that hasn’t ever affected our relationship, so thank you for being one of the most caring and helpful people I know.  Today I gain a brother, which is pretty cool because even though you are technically a big brother in both size and age, I can still whoop your butt if you get out of line! Tyler and Amy I hope this day has been everything you both dreamed it would be, and all the best in your marriage!  I love you both!

Charlotte's speech was so beautiful... thank you! Can't wait to be there for YOUR wedding next July Char, you're one of my best friends.

For those who don't know, I've known Amy since we were 5. So this speech has been about 20 years in the making.
Amy & I met at school. I followed her around at recess, she looked like she knew what she was doing- and I tagged along. Obviously, this is how life-long friends are made.
When Amy & Tyler began dating, he was a new friend added to our groups. We'd all hang out, Amy, Tyler and I. A Friday night movie, followed by early Saturday morning bowling together. It was years later that I realized I may have been a giant third wheel.
But if you know Amy, you know that was never true. Amy is such a warm, inviting person. I was never the third wheel because Amy truly loves her family and friends, and she always finds time to stay connected to them.
We've grown up together and I'm so happy to be part of all your great life events. Today you married your best friend. I know Tyler sees all of the great things about you that I see and more. So thanks for letting me tag along and I can't wait to be there for your next adventure.

Kevin's speech was warm (and toasty :) ) and hit on many highlights of their friendship. Go Kevin!

When Tyler mentioned something to me about delivering a toast at his wedding reception, I thought “Gee, I knew he was cheap, but he’s serving toast at his banquet?!”

Tyler has been my partner in crime for the last several decades.  We first met in the late 1980s in Sunday school at Ye Olde Church of St. Paul formerly located on Bridge Street down in The Flats.  His was a name I’d never forget seeing as how his parents were constantly shouting it from across the room.  During the inaugural years of our friendship, Tyler and I discovered we had many similarities.  Among them was a passion for Batman and The Ninja Turtles as well as a definite penchant for mischief.

Regrettably, our vast number of adventures together cannot be compressed into this brief speech.  However, highlights include:
·         Getting my parents’ Ford Crown Victoria stuck in a swamp.
·         Arming the Church’s security alarm with Pastor Kubke still inside and having him nearly arrested by the police.
·         Me, laughing hysterically, after Tyler accidently fell through a glass door whilst trying to urinate off of a second story balcony at Richelle's house.
·         Me, laughing even harder while Tyler was chased out of the aforementioned house and then beaten by a berserk, 6 foot tall, German exchange student named Catherine.
and
·         Lest we forget the time in which we utilized an animatronic gorilla named Kong to cause Adrian  to flee my house at two in the morning in his underwear.

Undeniably, the two of us have had some great times together and I am doubtless that tonight will be any less memorable.

Ordinarily, this is the part of the speech where a person might spout out some long-winded, cliché-ridden, gobbledygook about love and marriage.  However, as many of you know, I am certainly not the most sentimental person in the world.  Thus, I will keep this brief and avoid sounding like a complete and utter cheese ball.  Tyler and Amy, I realize that the events of today hold an immeasurable amount of significance to you both.  For this reason, I am deeply honoured to have been chosen to play such a vital role in today’s proceedings.  I wish you both a long and prosperous marriage in the days to come.  Here’s to you both!

Ryan's toast to Ty was also great. He spoke about many of Tyler's adventures in childhood, mainly about his pyro tendencies and other brotherhood antics. We have such good brothers!

Reanna's speech... oh how surprised everyone (but me!) was! Reanna had kept an old ICQ (instant messenger) conversation she and I had when I was deciding if I wanted to date Tyler or not. The writings of 15 year old me were hilarious, and I think everyone's faces in the above photos show how well her speech was received. Thanks Reanna!

My parents welcome Tyler to our family, and then Tyler's parents welcomed me to their family. Both speeches were delightful, and we both feel fortunate to have such great in-laws. Tyler was welcomed with to the Eskimo Nation with his very own Green & Gold t-shirt, while I was welcomed with a poem about daughter in-laws. We have amazing parents!

Tyler's speech was long, but I could hardly believe he wrote such beautiful thing...incredible... I'm allowed to be biased, he's my husband!
To all of our guests: relatives, friends and freeloaders (you know who you are out there!!) .
On behalf of my wife and I, thank you all for joining us today to celebrate our marriage!
It’s a privilege to be in the company of so many people that are important in our lives and we are delighted to welcome you here to share our special day with us. We are thrilled to be able to celebrate with all of you, and would like to give a special nod to our grandparents, all of whom we are fortunate to have with us here today. We are so happy you could make it.
It’s great to see you all and I can honestly say it would not have been the same without you.

To begin, I would like to thank you all for your generosity and the fantastic gifts you have brought for us. I can’t tell you how much they mean to us………
I really do mean thank-you; we will be using your account details from the cheques and gift registry to set up direct debits to pay our utility bills for many years to come. They don`t call me cheap for nothing!!

On a more serious note, events like today don’t just happen. We have been planning this wedding for months and years now. Well, Amy actually did all the work. I have learned that one of the best things about being a man is that weddings seem to magically organise themselves. So to Amy and everyone else who has helped plan today I would like to say a big thank you.

Now as is custom, there will be a few toasts during my speech, so please don’t down the whole glass at the first toast…mentioning no names, MOM.

As we begin, I would like to take this opportunity to say that unfortunately, there are some people close to our hearts who cannot be with us today for many reasons. I know they would have enjoyed being here immensely. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and we know that their thoughts are with us.
Ladies and gentlemen… please raise your glasses to our absent and lost, Family and Friends.

On behalf of my wife and I, we would now like to thank both sets of our parents, as we wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for them. Your love and support have never faltered, and we can’t thank you enough for everything you have provided us, in body, mind, and spirit. If we can become half the parents they are to us then I’m sure we won’t go TOO wrong.

To Ron and Shelly,
Traditionally I am supposed to thank you both at this point for welcoming me into your family, but it seems strange for me to do that today as you have both made me feel like a part of it for many, many, many, many years now. I genuinely could not have asked for nicer in-laws. Thank you for raising Amy to become the woman that I have married today. I would also like to thank you both for allowing me to marry your beautiful Daughter. I love Amy with all of my heart and will do everything I can to continue to make her happy. So, Ladies and Gentleman please raise your glasses in a toast to two of the nicest people you will ever meet, Ron and Shelly!

Now, to MY Mom and Dad. Thank you for all of your love. You’ve always been there when I’ve needed you. You’ve got me through thick and thin, and there have been plenty of both. I feel extremely lucky to have such wonderful parents. You have both taught me so much, like how to cheer for the most winning-est baseball franchise of all time, the New York Yankees, and how to bleed Maple Leaf blue, as you can see tonight. Oh and thanks mom for showing me how to cook Kraft Dinner, couldn`t have gotten through university without that action! But seriously, Mom and Dad, you have always encouraged me to make the most of every opportunity that I have had in life which has made me the man standing before you today, and I thank you endlessly for that……………….......... I mean, it must be very hard to come to terms with the fact that you raised such a perfect offspring! Ladies and Gentleman, please raise your glasses, to my Parents. Darrell and Sandra.

That leads me on to the star of the evening, my gorgeous new wife Amy – you look absolutely stunning.
I want everyone here to know how lucky I feel to be here right now.
Amy, I love you in so many ways and for so many reasons, you know me and understand me like no one else ever could, you believe in my dreams and care about my feelings, you make me laugh so hard and smile so often, you have a way of bringing out the very best in me, but mostly because you’re my very best friend and soul mate. I love you with all my heart. Thank you for marrying me and making me the happiest man alive and for loving me as much as I love you. I know this is the start of many more happy years together. Ladies and Gentlemen, please join me, for the most important toast I’m ever likely to make, TO MY WIFE, MY BRIDE AND MY ABSOLUTE WORLD,TO AMY.

Tradition now dictates that I tell you an amusing story or two about Amy. However, I don`t really have any. She`s about as squeaky clean as it gets (more than I can say for myself). But I will say this, as of this past June we have been together for 9 years and in that time I've learned a very valuable lesson.
Whenever I’m Wrong - Admit It!!
Whenever I’m Right - Keep Quiet!!   P.S. “I really don’t run my show!”

To our bridesmaids, Charlotte, Kristen, Reanna, and Marley I had a lovely speech written for you, but Amy insisted she had to toast you herself. So here she is to read MY speech

Finally, I get the mike! To our bridesmaids, and some of my best friends, I have to say a massive thank you for coming along with me on this journey I call our engagement. And Tyler thanks you endlessly for reading my countless novel-length emails describing every detail of my plans for today so that he didn’t have to!  I thank each of you for being amazing friends... you’ve seen me through all of life’s challenging and exciting days, from difficult days on the playground at George Davison, through the roller coaster that only high school can provide, and onto these new exciting days in our lives as we have spread across the country, found new careers, told stories of new loves, and allowed our friendships to continue to grow. I can’t explain how fortunate I am to have such wonderful women in my life, who kept me laughing this past week and the past 18 months as I impatiently waited for this day to arrive.  I’m so happy you could all share in our wedding day in such a special way, and I look forward to the day when I can watch each of you feel the love I see in this room today.  I’d like to ask everyone to raise your glasses and join me in a toast, TO THE BRIDESMAIDS!

We’re almost done, I promise...

To my special cousins, Kelsie, Nikki, and Jennelle, our girls of many jobs and talents. Thank you for watching over our rings as our guests filled them with their love; for singing during our ceremony; for handing out our programs, assisting with the processional, the guestbook, the setup, and all of the countless behind the scenes things you did to make our day run smoothly. We can’t thank you enough for everything you have done. Tyler & I have been thrilled to watch each of you grow up into the incredible women you are becoming, and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for all of you. We love you with all our hearts.

To our ushers, Shane and Cody, thank you for doing an outstanding job of helping everyone find their seats. You both look wonderful today, and we thank you for playing such an important role on our wedding day. One day, I hope we can repay the favour to both of you. We love you both, and appreciate your help.

Everyone, please raise your glasses and join me in a toast to our cousins, Shane, Kelsie, Nikki, Cody and Jennelle.

Finally to my best man Kevin and groomsmen Ryan, Corey and Jon, I personally would like to thank you for agreeing to stand beside me on this very special day. Thank you to all of you for being there for me when I have needed you through the many trials and tribulations of my life! I appreciate it more then you will ever know! A special thank you to Kevin for co-organizing my stag with Corey and Derek Peterson, and for giving me an evening I will not soon forget.  I’m happy to call you my brothers and my friends. I’d like to ask everyone to raise your glasses and join me in a toast, TO THE GROOMSMEN!

I am starting to get long winded, and I`m sure most of you have drained your glasses by now so that is enough from me.

I would like to thank you all once again for coming today and hope you have a great evening!

"Grandma's Hands"

For months before the wedding, Mom & I planned this photo, based on the email about "Grandma's Hands" you've probably seen. Anyways, I couldn't be more thrilled with this photo. 3 full generations of hands: Granny, her 4 daughters, and their 4 daughters!
